The new Serenity icon is green, with bits of black and white. It's River's sleepycodeword, with both spellings lifted from Wikipedia's Serenity entry. The translation, on the other hand, comes from Joss's Q&A session.

And now, the bit about EllJay - which gives me the perfect reason to use this icon.

Please, click here and have a look at what they've decided my layout should look like.

[[EDIT: Fixed now, so I'll give you screencaps instead.]]

Well, not quite. This is what my stylesheet looks like at the moment. I'll reproduce it here - but I'm warning you, it's not cut for length.

[[EDIT: It's kinda fixed now. Sadly, no more popup menus. Happily, purple. And the Clock of the Time Dragon. See below for text of broken stylesheet.]]

Ready?

/* Cleaned CSS: */
/* suspect CSS: high bytes */

I'll give you a moment to read it.

...

Done.

So, now I get to try to squish my CSS into an allowable size, which may mean I'll need to drop features from my layout. We'll see.

The good news is this: it may give me reason to get around to writing my very own layout. Still, before that day I plan to get this one working again.

::blink::

Codes freak me out.

Pretty icon though! Hey, is that an "r"? ;)

That basically just means "We LJ. We no like your stylesheet. StyleSMASH."

So, now my little popup menus are gone.

So they just up and decided this after your having this layout for how long now?

Rude, LJ. Rude.

It's a new security feature, apparently. It's not like they've only done it to me.

Oh, okay. Well, we'll let it slide this one time.

But... They were cool.

I know, they're being secure and fixing XSS vulnerabilites (and giving away permanent accounts), but, still.

Ah well, I'd saved to code anyway, the links list on my main blog is, um, huge...

If your links list is coded into your stylesheet, then something Very Bad is happening.

The popup behaviour of the menus was CSS driven, but it needs to be done in the stylesheet. So, the menus are still there, exactly the way they've been in IE all this time.

Oh no, not going to be in the stylesheet, I copied your styelsheet as another example of embedded list/menues (I have 3 so far) so when I get around to coding it I can compare three worked examples.

Teaching yourself coding by trial and error is damn silly, but, well, it's not like I have anything better to do.

200+ links in one sidebar is silly, hence the desire to do them as pop ups. With, naturally, a get firefox link at the top and bottom of the list. And probably in the middle as well...

"It's for chickens to laugh at" would be a more idiomatic translation, sort of like "It's to laugh at" is a phrase in English.

But I never knew that's what the code word was! I could tell it was Russian, but not the exact phrase -- thanks :)

That's the translation I was going to use to start with, but the 'laughter for chickens' one seemed more fun.

Your icon is in Russian!! (misspelled btw but meh :P)
I totally didn't know the code word was about making chickens laugh. I didn't even realise it was in russian. Cool!

If you can furnish the appropriate spelling, then I'll post you a cookie*. This is why there's a note about the spellings both coming from Wikipedia.

*Post and cookie may be entirely figurative.

Err... Actually I'm not sure if it's supposed to be курям or курьям... but your one is definitely wrong because it's a hard r. It should be kuryam, not kuram. Kuram sounds like smoking. If you're a redneck. A Russian one I mean. ...by which I mean a Georgian. Okay what the heck, I haven't been to Russian school for a year and a bit, I don't remember anything :P

This is the section of Wikipedia talk page where they discuss the safeword phrase, if that helps.

Well, I asked my dad, and it seems "kuram" is the Odessa pronounciation. So, hey, now you know - it's not just Russian, it's a dialect.

...

By the time they were done with that one, no-one was laughing. Least of all the chickens. :)

Oh, yes. It's fun the first time. And then the second time, where they use the steel plate.

Less so the third time, with the foam blocks.

By the time they've done it with the layered panes of glass, you're as happy it's over as Adam and Jamie are.

Also, this makes me use the icon again - for it is laughter, and chickens, and absurdity.

Speaking of your layout- do you know when us lowly IE users go to comment on a post it breaks your post in half with a big purple block in the middle?

Also, theres something zerogravitry I meant to talk to you about zerogravity but I forget what zerogravity.

No, I didn't. I may have to install IE6 and examine this oddity.

Yes, yes. I haven't forgotten you, but I really would like it to be better than "They had sex. It was fun. They bonked their heads on the walls a lot. When they were finished, they were very dizzy indeed."
