...in particular, an odd hybrid of an Atlas and a Rifleman? And try telling me those weren't PPCs. Go on. Try it.

First, though, and most importantly: is there any proper reaction other than 'squeeee!' to a cinematic trailer heralding the release of Stardust? A clue: no.

Anyway, so far this year I've seen movies about:
  • Ninjas
  • Pirates
  • Robots
...which I cite as irrefutable evidence that I am, in fact, acting my age. :D

And now, in no particular order, my thoughts on the robots in drag:

The exposed look is interesting, but makes scenes overly busy. Especially messy explosive stuff-breaking-everywhere all-out urban warfare kind of scenes.

Robots who frequently talk in pop culture references? Hee. That is all.

'Unmasked' Optimus Prime? No. Trust Westley, masks are comfortable.

On the subject... "Hello. My name is Optimus Prime. You ruined my planet. Prepare to die" would've been so. much. fun. Mitzitron: the six fingered robot.

They hired Hugo Weaving for Mitzitron... so why the voice filter? Is Agent Smith not good enough for the soulless destruction of humanity? Were they scared it'd get a little D for Decepticon? The people deserve to know.

Yay for nods to the original theme. Similarly, I liked the way buskers in the Spiderman movies will randomly start off with "Spiderman/Spiderman/does whatever a spider can...". I will, however, let new Batman movies get away without doing this, seeing as how the theme is:
Batman
Batman
Batman
Batman
Batman, Batman, Batman
Batman, Batman, Batman
Batman
...and is thus unsuitable for songful pop culture references. Woe!

(Aside: If you have a copy of the Freakazoid theme... I can has upload? And perhaps Danger Mouse?)

I'll leave it there, since I've already wandered off-topic.

Eee! Stardust! But why do we get it MORE THAN A MONTH LATER THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD? Behold, I shout in small print! TREMBLE BEFORE MY SHRUNKEN FURY, DELAYERS OF FILM! In other news, Eee! Stardust!

Ah, yes, TMNT. Good film, but I found the freakish body proportions a little weird (why didn't their legs snap like the twigs that they are!?)
