...in particular, an odd hybrid of an Atlas and a Rifleman? And try telling me those weren't PPCs. Go on. Try it.

First, though, and most importantly: is there any proper reaction other than 'squeeee!' to a cinematic trailer heralding the release of Stardust? A clue: no.

Anyway, so far this year I've seen movies about:
  • Ninjas
  • Pirates
  • Robots
...which I cite as irrefutable evidence that I am, in fact, acting my age. :D

And now, in no particular order, my thoughts on the robots in drag:

The exposed look is interesting, but makes scenes overly busy. Especially messy explosive stuff-breaking-everywhere all-out urban warfare kind of scenes.

Robots who frequently talk in pop culture references? Hee. That is all.

'Unmasked' Optimus Prime? No. Trust Westley, masks are comfortable.

On the subject... "Hello. My name is Optimus Prime. You ruined my planet. Prepare to die" would've been so. much. fun. Mitzitron: the six fingered robot.

They hired Hugo Weaving for Mitzitron... so why the voice filter? Is Agent Smith not good enough for the soulless destruction of humanity? Were they scared it'd get a little D for Decepticon? The people deserve to know.

Yay for nods to the original theme. Similarly, I liked the way buskers in the Spiderman movies will randomly start off with "Spiderman/Spiderman/does whatever a spider can...". I will, however, let new Batman movies get away without doing this, seeing as how the theme is:
Batman
Batman
Batman
Batman
Batman, Batman, Batman
Batman, Batman, Batman
Batman
...and is thus unsuitable for songful pop culture references. Woe!

(Aside: If you have a copy of the Freakazoid theme... I can has upload? And perhaps Danger Mouse?)

I'll leave it there, since I've already wandered off-topic.

Eee! Stardust! But why do we get it MORE THAN A MONTH LATER THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD? Behold, I shout in small print! TREMBLE BEFORE MY SHRUNKEN FURY, DELAYERS OF FILM! In other news, Eee! Stardust!

I have no real recollection of Transformers (unlike, say, Dino Riders :P), and I have a feeling Beast Wars or whatever is probably considered non-canonical, so I'll be over here, joining your Eee! Stardust!

I also liked that they kept the original noise. And that Starscream had the voice. Really, he/it's the only one I remember.

Sigh. I wish they had kept some of the 'female' Autobots, though. Elita 1 would have looked cool.

I remember Beast Wars! It was entertaining, but that's really neither here nor there.

And a workaround for your theme song needs: find opening on youtube, copy url and go to zamzar.com; convert to suitable file format. Hey presto, alakazam!

I remember Starscream, and that Megatron could fly, and always thinking that if the Autobots couldn't be bothered with flight then they kind of deserved to lose. Oh! And that there was that one Decepticon who turned into a train, which always seemed kind of daft.

And, yes. Especially since there's apparently no more Cybertron to be leading a rebellion on.

*obediently trembling before your shrunken fury*

*pats your shrunken self on the head*

... more to the point, ninjas? *perks up* (normally I perk up at the mention of porn, but ninjas are cooler and have shurikens :D)

Well, ninja turtles, but that just proves my point. :)

Ah, yes, TMNT. Good film, but I found the freakish body proportions a little weird (why didn't their legs snap like the twigs that they are!?)
