Firstly, I bring a link. A shiny link, a tasty link, and a link that made me have a short but happy gigglefit. And from there, via telephone...

Mum: "You know that Eskimo Joe song?"
Me: "You may need to be more specific."
Mum: "The one with the line that says 'I don't understand the point of fingers'."
Me: "Oh, that'd be Black Fingernails, Red Wi- wait, what?!"
Mum: "Huh?"
Me: "What? What did you say the line was?"
Mum: "I don't understand the point of fingers."
Me: ...
Mum: "I don't get it either."
Me: "That could be because it's wrong."
Mum: "No it's not. [The breakfast guy on the radio] said it this morning!"
Me: "He was lying about that, too He's wrong too."
Mum: "Really? What is it?"
Me: "The argument over God continues."
Mum: "No it's not! It's 'I don't understand the point of fingers'."
Me: "No, it's not. You're wrong, and if I must, I will look this up for you."

Also, after far too long, I'm going to put in a brief advertisement for [livejournal.com profile] yeoldelj, the perfect forum for person-on-the-streetgenerally-accepted-path-for-traffic,-horse,-cart,-foot-or-otherwise posts in an LJish mode on historical stuff. It was the sudden-but-inevitable result of a thread in which [livejournal.com profile] shaysdays and I reflected on the PlagueJournalle thread which happened in this post.

Also, I had to type that paragraph four times, because Gmail kept stealing focus from Deepest Sender then going "huh? what? That's completely not a keyboard shortcut! Pay attention", and leaving me to stare and go "Hey! Those were valuable words I'll never get back! Unless I type them again, I suppose. Bah."

On an unrelated note (ha!), I almost gained tyre marks yesterday as a diplomat ran a red light. Grr, immunity.

And on another unrelated note, pointy brassicas seem to be popular on LJ at the moment. Mmm, pretty. And no, I'm not just including this so I can use the phrase 'pointy brassica', WHY WOULD YOU THINK SUCH A THING?!

As opposed to, say, the Google Blog post on Usability Day. And why am I taking about this the day after the day after it happened? Let me quote a snippet:
Well, there is a whole group of people called "user experience professionals" who sit up late at night thinking about naughty technology and how to make it better for you
Naughty technology?! Poorly-designed user interfaces and such aren't what springs to mind when you use the phrase 'naughty technology' near me. Naughty technology is for fun nights in, or sometimes for the end of a reasonably entertaining night out. Naughty technology is shipped by Internet retailers in nondescript brown paper with no overt markings. Naughty technology, in short, hides in the drawer in case your mother visits (or sits out on display in case the Jehovah's Witnesses visit).

(At this moment, I'd also like to say a quick Hooray! for naughty technology.)

Lastly, when I was doing fun things like vacuuming and sweeping and dusting and such earlier, it occurred to me again just how bad I am at singing along with musicy stuff sometimes (which is why I only do it when nobody else can hear, or when someone's likely to come up to the door and try to convert me). And this, this inspired curiosity, so what I'd like to know is this: What song that you can't sing would you most like to be able to? Reasons are entirely optional, unless they're particularly amusing; I'm just suddenly curious.

Kaz/Kav/Kab/Kob/Korn would be Kavyen Temperly, methinks.

And I can see. why. he'd be confusified. How do you get that out of the actual line?!
