[profile] princesslaurene started it! Also, meme redux.

No, really. She posted about her NaNovel, and then followed a thread on NaNoIsing 'Netisms, and then she posted a verse and a half of a NaNo version of the llama song. I ventured away from the Internet for a bit, with that idea planted firmly in the fertile, insanity-rich environment that is my mind.

Filk ensued.

So, as a kind of tribute to those with time enough to actually play (and to the well-known tune):
Here's a novel
There's a novel
And another little novel
Fuzzy novel
Funny novel
Novel novel
Blog

Novel novel
Snackfood
Novel
Red Bull
Jolt
Espresso
Novel
Novel novel
Spellcheck
Novel
Novel novel
Blog

I once had a bedtime
I once slept at night
Now I sit at my keyboard
And write and write and write
I'll look like I'm three years dead
When I finish NaNo
And now listen, LJ friends
My word count grows and grows

Did you ever see a novel
Write a novel
On the novel
Novel's novel
Scenes of novel
Novel novel
Blog

Half a novel
Twice the novel
Not a novel
Writer
Novel
Novel in the past
A sci-fi novel
Novel
Blog

Is this how we write now?
A novel in a month?
Padding it with extra words
And guest star
Horror
Smut
The plot bunnies are getting thin
My brain's a hazy fog
Time to do a word count now
And then update my blog
I think it should follow the tune fairly well - I've been singing it through like an insane person all the way through to make sure of that. And, of course, happy writing fun time to all those who are actually doing NaNo. You're completely on crack, each and every one of you, but we love you for it.

Also, there's 6 items left on the meme. A bit more has been added to the clue for those six, but please leave answers over at the original post.
  1. Pages/Poison OTP! Also, murderous monks.
  2. Secretarial Harmony. That most evil of law firms.
  3. Always a pleasure. Plus, the people's fame and ovation (forever) sounds like a fun prize.
  4. Kill or cure isn't supposed to be taken literally. One case a week: it's canon.
  5. Oddly enough, meddling isn't always appreciated. Nothing here is what it seems.
  6. An unrelated book. Also, the occasional mondegreen.
And that's all for this post. Whee.

I don't think so, but then I find it's a niche that the Dildo Song fills perfectly. (Filking in ten minutes in a run-down per-hour hotel isn't my thing, mostly because there's always that one tricky line at the end.)

It wasn't so much an order to filk as a statement of my belief in your ability to Llama-Song-ise anything.

Oh, that's completely how I read it. It just takes me more than 10 minutes to actually do it. (And that's after the inspiration comes.)

I liked [livejournal.com profile] palmer_kun's rendition of the NaNo Song. I'd make a silly cartoon gif to go with it (I don't have anything to make flash animations with), but I'm only 793 words short of 35K.

I liked it too; it causes death by gigglefit.

But, yes. First writing, then silly animations.

The good news is that I'm starting to like some of what I'm writing, so maybe I'll edit out the more unnecessary bits of padding and let people read it at some point after November.

For the time being, though, the padding stays in. It's like a Wonderbra for my novel. It makes the novel look big, but it's secretly just cheating to make it look that way, only not real cheating because what it does is enhance what's there to make it seem like there's more, and I'm sorry, I think the technique's carrying over to other things that I'm writing now, whoops.

It's NaNo; padding is part of the game. Which is another reason I shouldn't try it - my writing works more like a corset than a Wonderbra.

Which is to say, it's rather terse. And I don't know how I forgot that bit in the actual comment.
