Which, true to form, is somewhat quizzical, yey.

So! On account of lack of planning, we have three kinds of questions.

The first kind is made up of questions about a lyric, or rather what's contained in it. Answers will need the actual answer, and the artist and title because, well, because. Where answer and title are the same, you still need the title.

The second time is the normal identify-the-lyric kind. Artist and title, as per normal.

And, because [livejournal.com profile] maggiebloome posted some, the third type of question is made up of quotes from films, books, television, and anything else in the whole entire universe. No, it's not music, but it means questions and it means I post this* and it means that I can post things about stuff that happens.

So! On with the post.

Part the First - questions about lyrics.
  1. Bustle. Hedgerow. Spring-clean.
For whom? How shouldn't we be?

It's for the May Queen, and we're advised not to be alarmed now. It's from Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven ([livejournal.com profile] tears_of_nienna, [livejournal.com profile] abberanteyes, [livejournal.com profile] matgb)

  2. Assuming freedom within and without, in what kind of object might one try to catch a deluge?

A paper cup, if Crowded House's Don't Dream It's Over is anything to go by. ([livejournal.com profile] deepfishy)

  3. Let's just say that there was a place called Montreaux, kinda near a lake in Switzerland. If a casino were to be burnt down by an idiot with a flaregun, who would've been playing inside at the time?

Frank Zappa and the Mothers (later known as the Mothers of Invention) were playing in the casino at the time; the song is, of course, Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water ([livejournal.com profile] silmaril)

  4. What, exactly, did the dry cleaners get out?

The Mustard, from the song The Mustard in BtVS episode Once More With Feeling ([livejournal.com profile] data_warrior

  5. The jester sang for the king and queen. From whom did he borrow a coat?

James Dean, as established in Don McLean's American Pie ([livejournal.com profile] mrpyro, closely followed by [livejournal.com profile] raptor_au)

  6. Hush, little baby, don't say a word, and nevermind that noise you heard... what is it?

The beast under your bead and/or in your closet and/or in your head, from Metallica's Enter Sandman ([livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou and [livejournal.com profile] mrpyro)

  7. So, what's the current market price for dirty deeds?

Dirt cheap and that's cutting me own throat. From Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, by AC/DC. ([livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou)

  8. Old loves, they die hard. How do old lies die?

Harder. I Wish I had an Angel, by Nightwish. ([livejournal.com profile] raptor_au)

  9. Once upon a time was a backbeat. Once upon a time all the chords came to life. Prior to wings, what did the angels have?

They had guitars, according to Meat Loaf in Rock and Roll Dreams Come True ([livejournal.com profile] shaysdays)

  10. He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor. What else did he do, and who is he?

He also stood up to the man, and gave him what for. He's the Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne; his deeds are described in The Hero of Canton, from Firefly episode Jaynestown. ([livejournal.com profile] raptor_au)
Part the Second - snippetybits of lyrics.
  1. I'm made of atoms
    You're made of atoms

  2. Take a litle walk to the edge of town
    Go across the tracks
    Where the viaduct looms
    Like a bird of doom
    As it shifts and cracks

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Red Right Hand ([livejournal.com profile] deepfishy)

  3. Ma-ia-hii
    Ma-ia-huu
    Ma-ia-hoo
    Ma-ia-haha

O-Zone, Dragostea Din Tei ([livejournal.com profile] selenitia)

  4. My fall will be for you
My love will be in you
If you be the one to cut me
    I'll bleed forever

  5. I wish I could trust
That it was just this once but
I must do what I must

Under Your Spell/Standing (reprise), from BtVS episode Once More With Feeling ([livejournal.com profile] data_warrior)

  6. And it doesn't matter how you feel now
    Anything at all
Seems to be your only way, so vicious
    Heavenly apart

Lacuna Coil, Unspoken ([livejournal.com profile] mrpyro)

  7. Paint me a picture of eyes that never see
Flashes of lightning that burn for only me
Hey, hey, hey - there's only the devil to pay
I'm ready to go, pull me down from below
Give me a place I can lay

  8. But as the scenery grows, I see in different lights
The shades and shadows undulate in my perception
My feelings swell and stretch; I see from greater heights
I understand what I am still too proud to mention - to you

Fiona Apple, Never is a Promise ([livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou)

  9. You can look but you can't touch
    I don't think I like you much
Heaven knows what a girl can do
Heaven knows what you've got to prove

Garbage, I Think I'm Paranoid ([livejournal.com profile] abberanteyes, [livejournal.com profile] daphyn, [livejournal.com profile] xfunkydoryx)

  10. Now, here is what separates Firefly
From other shows you're likely to see
It's meaningful and witty, and the setting's really gritty
And the theme song's about Serenity
    It's a little like a western (hyah!)
    It's a little like X-Files
It's better than Trek, and it's funnier than Shrek
And it beats out Andromeda by miles!
Part the Third - quotes from things that aren't songs.
  1. And there was a voice, a high clear, female voice, which said, 'Ow,' and then, very quietly, it said 'Fuck,' and then it said 'Ow,' once more.

And then it said nothing at all, and there was silence in the glade.

Stardust, by Neil Gaiman ([livejournal.com profile] data_warrior and [livejournal.com profile] deepfishy)

  2. The imp gave a forlorn cry. 'O Brilliant Ray of Starlight, it grieves me, but I do not know! May I be toasted for my ignorance! I simply carry messages, worthless as I am. I go where I'm directed and bring replies by return, never deviating from my course and never pausing - unless I am so fortunate as to be waylaid by your good grace and squashed under a stone.'

An imp to the djinni Bartimaeus in The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud ([livejournal.com profile] fireyfox)

  3. I'm going to say "grar" again, only this time it is a happy grar. Grar!

Faye from Questionable Content, after being given a quadruple espresso latte monstrosity. ([livejournal.com profile] mrpyro)

  4. People loved those!

Cap'n Tightpants, in the Firefly episode Trash. ([livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou)

  5. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's unbelievably important. You should eat breakfast at least three times a day.

Buffy to Dawn in BtVS episode 6.04, Flooded ([livejournal.com profile] matgb, [livejournal.com profile] shaysdays, [livejournal.com profile] daphyn, [livejournal.com profile] xfunkydoryx)

  6. Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles.

Captain Haddock, of Tintin fame ([livejournal.com profile] deepfishy)

  7. Now - counter to the previous syllogism: tricky one, follow me carefully, it may prove a comfort. If we postulate, and we just have, that within un-, sub- or supernatural forces the probability is that the law of probability will not operate as a factor, then we must accept that the probability of the first part will not operate as a factor, in which case the law of probability will operate as a factor within un-, sub- or supernatural forces. And since it obviously hasn't been doing so, we can take it that we are not held within un-, sub- or supernatural forces after all; in all probability, that is. Which is a great relief to me personally.

Guildenstern in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard ([livejournal.com profile] deepfishy)

  8. It's only a model

King Arthur's loyal Patsy, speaking of Camelot in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. ([livejournal.com profile] raptor_au)

  9. This show is awful!
    - Terrible!
    - Disgusting!
    - See you next week?
    - Of course.

Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show ([livejournal.com profile] sarekofvulcan, [livejournal.com profile] silmaril, [livejournal.com profile] daphyn)

  10. Best. Show. Ever.

Joss Whedon, speaking of VM. ([livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou)

And now it has been postede, yey. Also, this means a return to daily posting. Yay!

*Posted, actually, since you're quite obviously seeing this now.
