Another day, another few bits and pieces of learning.

Today's introductions were for resource maintenance and for teamwork. I'm not going to say much about the teamwork one, since I doubt it's really anything truly special.

Resource maintenance, on the other hand, is scary. Yes, scary. It involves deliberately getting books wet, just to show that we can dry them out properly - and that bit comes in the next few weeks. [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe, when I'm told all about the apparently-proper way of getting water out of a monograph I'll post at length, just in case you lose another book to the sink.

...

I just used the word monograph. In a sentence. Without realising. This, on day 3.

The worst part of the day was coming home, since I did so a bit later than I'd planned to. This is the first time I've had to catch one of their 'new' late buses, which are apparently 'flexible'. 'Flexible' seems to mean that a particularly grumpy bus driver points out that you just press the button, when it's stopping time. 'Flexible' also means that I get off another 200+ metres from home.

And did I mention the rain? The heavy and appropriately wet rain?

Well, there was rain. And it was heavy, and it was soggy, and so I ran because the TV said you get less wet.

I doubt it mattered much.

I'll bet that whoever designed this new system of 'flexible' bus routes is sitting at home right now, praising themselves for being exceptionally intellect.

The rain came with a side of lightning! And this lightning killed all the TV. No House. No Spicks & Specks. No Glass House, but with luck it'll be repeated very late on Friday. Rar! Silly weather, stopping the signal like that.

Lastly, I'm considering buying an MP3 player when I can afford to do so. I was originally considering things not-Apple, but a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] raptor_au gave me cause to rethink that. And the sheer size of the cute and tiny black nano. So! People with modern MP3 players: who made yours, what model is it, and which one do you wish you had instead?
