Tonight, I'm going to start proceedings with a bit that might be interesting to the Australians reading this - that is, that this is a census year. It's been five years since last they collected every imaginable detail about everyone in the country, and it's time to do it again!

The mission this year is - so nearly as I can tell - to have a second shot at making a new official religion in Australia by filling in 'Jedi Knight' on the census forms. If this isn't the case, though, feel free to nominate more conventional religions such as Voodoo, Pastafarianism or The Cult Of Whedonism*.

And on to the day's classes. They were boring introductiony things for the most part. There was a booklist, there was the Rearranging of the Timetable, and there was the Purchasing of the Textbooks.

About the most fun was in cataloguing tools. We had to describe objects, including a slinky, a red benadryl bear, a mini-table-tennis set and a defunct clock. Note to self: buy ruler for all cataloguing classes for the next two years.

And tomorrow? Stuff about the information industry in the morning, then stuff about projectors and powerpoint at night. Projectors and powerpoint! I made a habit of hijacking the projectors for entertaining purposes while still at university, so that should be refreshingly familiar.

In closing, I have an anti-meme of sorts - a Nohari window, which is the negative version of the other one with the positive and friendly words. Please do go and play with that one. Pleeeaaase?

(The happyfriendly version is here, if you wanted to play with it)

And that's it for tonight.

*The jury's out as to whether or not this is a cult, owing to the lack of a forbidden barn or implied polygamy**
**And why, why, WHYYYYY did Ten have to replace VM with this. I'm angry, I'm confused, and it's good for them I'm not armed.

Because Ten are evil. Every time you think they've changed their tune (say, for instance, by buying the rights for Futurama from Seven and showing it at a reasonable hour), that is when they get you. Bastards.

And as far as I know (which isn't very far), the official unofficial term is Seventh Day Whedonist...

Projectors are always fun. Enjoy ;)

So what did they do? I clickied on the link, and after I'd decided to pretend to be from Sydney (since it was my first time visiting their site, I'd a choice of five Australian cities to be from), all I got was a list of their 2006 shedule, and VM appears still to be on it.

I've fixed the link URL. Try it again.

...Sweet. Monkey. Jesus. Somebody at that network chose to do this, and we need to find em and kill em repeatedly in the face.

That's much closer to what I was thinking.

The census isn't for months yet, but your intent to tickybox is appreciated. :)

WHY would they do that?!

Good lord.

It's back into the ratings survey period so, oddly, they shelve a lot of their very best TV shows simply because they think that other things will be more popular.

The good news is that Supernatural and House and a few other things are there to stay. I'd still like my VM back, though.

Sooo... Veronica Mars has been replaced. By F(@$*!)NG.

Keep it up, Ten - you've almost beaten Nine in the "Contempt for Viewers" Cup. And after they split the two-part Tarantino CSI finale over the summer non-ratings period, that's pretty hard to do.

This is why I watch ABC and SBS, gorramit. (Yay, Mythbusters! Yay, Spicks and Specks!)

A: It doesn't make any religion "official". It merely gets it a classification code in the census records, nothing more.

B: You have no idea how hard that Nohari was to do for you.

A: It's official enough for me. :)

B: Actually... no. Does this mean I spend too much time on introspective fault-picking?

Oh, me and a census. That should be fun. Tickyboxes everywhere! I think I was eaten by a grue, it might have been a wild gazebo though.

I shall have to pick a religion to put. Perhaps 'Tickyboxafarian' is an option.

Also, Ten are eeeeeevil. In fact, Australian television stations in general are eeeeeevil. That is what DVDs are for. I don't even bother watching things when they first air any more, because they are invariably rescheduled to two in the morning, or taken off altogether.
