Today in Australia was marked by a fearsome display of nationalism...

which I carefully avoided, because nationalism is Not My Thing.

I have a singular lack of news today unless you've developed an unhealthy interest in my laundry basket, or in Murphy breaking in to sit and watch while I have a nap.

So, in closing, icon! 13 days to go... and I'm apparently in the running to win a Serenity poster bearing the signature of the One True Joss. Yay for not picking the slipcase. :D

I did very little in the way of celebrating Australia Day. I did manage, at some point, to realise that it was Thursday and not Wednesday. I think THAT merits celebration.

I bought Danny a laundry basket some time ago. It's navy blue, and it's one of those ones you can flatten down into a circle so you can store it if need be. It has handles, and they are both still attached. I personally use the family's communal laundry basket here, which is an old wicker one that I used to fit inside when I was younger.

...

That does it. I'm posting a photo of my laundry basket later.

Why stop at a photo? You could have icons. Hell, you could make a community. apathy_laundry. Or apathy_basket.

I already have inspiration for a laundry-basket icon.

Strangely enough, this has had more comments than most of my recent entries, and they've all been about laundry. Sometimes EllJay surprises me.

You never know what people will decide to start commenting on.

I'm starting to notice that. "Hello. I did laundry. I have a new icon! I like my new icon. Um... you're all talking about laundry. Is my laundry really interesting?" It really is odd.

Also, !

The radio just said that, quote:

Parents should get their kids to practice unwrapping their lunches.

Emphasis mine.

Our country needs help.

I like your new icon too. And now that I'm NOT going to Brisbane, I'll be able to get R4 Serenity the day it comes out (hmmm, mebbe I should pre-order to be safe). I was just amused by the laundry basket discussion.

And unwrapping their lunches? Huh? Does this mean that parents are letting kids buy canteen lunches too much, or does it mean that kids are dumb enough to eat Glad-Wrap?

Pre-ordering is good and healthsome. And it kicks Serenity up on the sales charts, and helps generate publicity, and gives you more time to convert the coatless masses.

I don't know. But, apparently, kids are having difficulties with the unwrapping of lunches. Lunches are becoming tricky puzzles, apparently. On the horizon looms a day where you'll be able to get into Mensa for being able to extract a sandwich from a ziplock bag.

All right. Oh, look how the first page that comes up when I enter 'www.e' into the address bar is the EzyDVD page for the Serenity collector's tin.

Ziplock bags are easy enough to open. It's closing them again that's the problem.

I'll pretend it was a nefarious plot carefully planned with the links for my pre-order poll.

They're not that hard to close. You start at one end, then run your fingers along the locking bit, then close the bit that's popped open, then close the other bit that's popped open, and then...
