Firstly, [livejournal.com profile] palmer_kun has never heard anything by Deep Purple. If you have (a) Deep Purple MP3s and (b) a faster Internet connection than mine, could you please provide some kind of link, yousendit or otherwise, in comments?

WTF, Gmail. WTF.

No. The 8 unread LJ threads, of which there's only 4.

*cocks head to side*

Wtf, Gmail?

From: [identity profile] colinmo.livejournal.com
I thought the unread ()s were of individual mails, which were wrapped up into reply threads.

From: [identity profile] active-apathy.livejournal.com
The unread numbers are the number of threads; same goes for Inbox and Starred and such. Individual emails only get shown in the parentheses next to the 'from' bit.

If Stuff comes while you have a conversation open, sometimes it'll show up in the count but not in the Inbox. You end up having to reload manually.

Well, I end up having to reload manually, so I guess you will, too.

Gmail still nice.

Note that "conversation" is their terminology. I like "thread" better.

Also, Minesweeper? Hee. *amused*

Also, why/how does your userpicture on the top left change when I reload this page? Nifty.

I replaced the function that writes the img tag for the userpic with one that randomly selects from a list of URLs, then writes the tag.

In short, layout editing. I need to add some of my newer icons to it, too.

You're far too cool with this S2 thing.

I should sit down and learn it too. In my copious free time. Say, once I've finished my dissertation. Um...

By the way, that wasn't envy, that was geekish adoration.

...and I think these nested comments have started to look cool, too.

Help, I'm getting into the panic-before-deadline mode.

Thanks. :) I just look at how other people make things work, reverse engineer that and use it for myself.

I still mean to write my very own layout one day, but I rather like the way this one is.

It's a Firefox plugin, and it can be set to play like Minesweeper on crack, with up to 7 mines on any given square.

Usually, that works. This time it sat there just like that for a bit over ten minutes.

Yahoo's been throwing stuff into my inbox from the day that it was sent, so I have to "next" view because I have a lot of saved emails. Might the mystery four be further back in your inbox?

Nay, for Gmail just bumps threads to the top when it gets new messages.

It's an excellent start, unless some stupid with a flaregun burns the host to the ground.

Gmail is indeed a strange and disturbing universe...um, email system.

And not to be rude, but...your friend is from this planet, right? How can he not have heard anything by Deep Purple? *shocked*

Be kind. He needs our help to fix this problem.

No, no, I completely understand that. Unfortunately all my DP stuff is under the guard of the Bugblatter Beast of Traal - an affectionate nickname for my sister's friend. I'm still waiting for her to get this stuff back to me, so I can't help you with it at the moment. As soon as she returns all of it I'll try and upload something :)

I see.

(Affectionate? You're affectionately suggesting you could hide from her by putting a towel over your head?)

From: [identity profile] raptor-au.livejournal.com
Oh, I've tried. I even tried switching fandoms and throwing a towel over her head ala the boogeyman from Discworld, hoping she'd have an existential crisis of self and disappear with a whimper.

So far? No luck.

Here's a live version of Highway Star. I have Deep Purple in Rock, too, but the cd's in the car right now, I'll grab it when I come back in the wee hours.

Right, here we go, four tracks off Deep Purple in Rock at random. :)

Black Night

Into the Fire

Child in Time

Hard Lovin' Man

Links good for 21 days. I must admit to not being particularly well-versed in all things Deep Purple, so if I missed the best gorram track on there, feel free to yell at me and I'll upload that one, too.

Black Night wins, and Child in Time is one of their more popular tracks. You have chosen wisely.

I see me twice! That is, however, beside the point. TELL ME, does your Gmail spam folder now have links to spam recipes in it or is that just mine? :|

But look, it can't just be mine! (reposted with smaller picture because O_O)

I noticed that too! It pulls from your conversations some things it thinks you'll like. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.

Real people still aren't reading your mail. It's all electronic and secure. (In fact, they look at your mail far less than Yahoo or Hotmail. It's just that they actually tell you what happens.)

That'll be the Web Clips feature, no? The first source on the Web Clips list is 101 Cook Books. 0.o
You can turn that off in the settings.
