I think it's about time I wrote an entry, especially seeing as how I did stuff last week; 'stuff' being read as 'a course in bar work, waiting, functions, and coffee'.

Mmmmmcoffee.

About the only actual learning involved (for me, anyway) was using a proper coffee machine, pulling beer, and rather a bit about wines. The good news was that drinking was compulsory, from the dry, fruity horror of a chardonnay or the sweetness of a noble riesling to the merry alcoholic fun of a long island iced tea.

And that's about all there is for me to say at the moment. Chances are that over the next few days, I'll go back through a few things from the last couple of weeks and finish what I was planning to do with them.

Are they sweet? Because that is the thing I need to have in a drink - lots of sugar. I went wine tasting once, and out of nine or ten wines, there was only one I liked, and I cannot for the life of me remember its name.

Dessert wines may be more your thing; they tend to be sweeter, using either late harvest grapes or ones infected with botrytis (which draws out moisture, and concentrates the sugar). They also tend to be more alcoholic, though this isn't always the case.

For table wines, read the back of the bottle. If it says it's sweet, it may be worth a try. If it says it's dry, then that won't appeal to your sugary needs at all.

Hmm i might have to try out dessert wines, then. I have no problem at all with the higher alcohol content, either :) Although - no tolerance whatsoever. That's the main reason I've held off trying the Long Island iced teas - I think one would pretty much do it for me.

How is the new job?

Not at all. This was a course all of its own, which will help me get a job somewhere.
