Allo, all. Just a merry little bit of advertising for you.

[livejournal.com profile] apathy_games has two spaces left (kind of, anyway; more than two and you'll be sharing quarters), preferably for fightin' types. Those taking exception to the thought should likely consider that fightin' types in the Fireflyverse are somewhat more interesting - Zoe and Jayne are far from being two-dimensional nonentities laden with guns and knives.

Secondly, [livejournal.com profile] crzydemona has a Firefly RP starting up for those who like the 'verse, but maybe not the idea of rules somewhere inside. There's a whole heap of spaces open. These are:
  • Canon:
    • Inara Serra
    • Badger
    • YoSaffBridge
  • Original: (crew on a second ship)
    • Pilot
    • Mechanic
    • Salvage engineer x2
    • Medic
    • Mercenary x2
So, those looking to do some roleplaying in the Fireflyverse have no excuse at all. If you have questions about either, then there's no kind of problem with you asking them here.

I've had a Firefly fightin' type concept knocking round the back of my head for the past couple days, so I'll take a spot if that's ok?

Are you just using the rules straight out of the book? Just wondering if I can use my copy of the game instead of having to read things from a screen.

Will join the community now; I should have a character ready some time this evening (UK time).

*nods* Everything's straight out of the book. Setting, rules, the lot.

Cool. One last quick question: if I've got a bit of character background that I might be keeping from the rest of the crew, do I just put it in the bio anyway and just mark it so that the rest of the players know that it is out-of-character info only, or do you want it sent to you in some hidden sneaky way?

Hmm... interesting question. I mean to make an entry for sneaky-type stuff with screened comments, so you could wait for it to pop up.

If it's something that should be reasonably safe but that characters shouldn't know, then put it in the bio and mark it.

It will probably be the second case; it's not massively secret-of-doom stuff, just some things that he would almost certainly never told any of the crew.

I think it'll be okay - I included things in my character's bio that she'd never volunteer (and will probably therefore come and bite us).

Things that come out of nowhere and bite us make for fun gaming!

Shiny. Everyone else in there so far roleplays or writes (or both), so I'm sure that properly handling such things isn't a problem.

Whee! New victim crew member.
This is your captain speaking.
Unlike Mal, I have nothing against grenades.
Do be sure to look over the back entries in the comm to see all the planning, plotting and polling what has gone on.

Surely grenades could class as needless killing :). Plus they're probably expensive.

I've been looking over the community a little anyway, because it was interesting, so I'm relatively up to speed. It helps that I've been reading the rulebook at home too.

Excessive and unnecessary use of grenades is needless killing.

Plus, not all grenades kill, and even killing grenades can be used for diversions and other non-lethal purposes.

Frag grenades are only 1.8 cred each. A tad pricey to be using excessively, but certainly not unreasonable to carry a couple with you. Gas grenades are only 1.2 cred.
