I saw the BDM again today, and will lend expression to my thoughts on it in letter format. The tag seems lonely, with just that one letter to Google. So!

Dear Joss,

I went to see Serenity again, because it's just that good. No, really. You can sit there for a loooong moment and congratulate yourself.

But first, I have some things to say.

Firstly, Summer's expressions are so fun. So very incredibly fun. You script crazy folk so well. She plays one even better. And yet, her lucid 'WTFidjit' expressions are so absolutely amusing.

Next, it's all so pretty. Except for a couple of things. The way the whitepoint's altered on dream!Osiris and Miranda is beautifully effective. There's beautiful shots of Serenity that make me love the boat more than ever. The music is all so wonderfully excellent, and I want my soundtrack now. The fighting!River scenes are so beautifully done, without wasting time and effort on 'bullet time' or wire.

She loves to dance. I could watch her all day.

That said, the spinny camera bit on Miranda makes me dizzy. The whitepoint bit is a shade eye-hurty after darker scenes. And that's all the problems I can think of for the pretty.

You have a fertile imagination, and in it ideas thrive. You use the full power of the imagination, and we call it... your imagination. Sometimes, it's your characters' grave. Curse you and your sudden character death. We know yours is an evil laugh, but it really, really hurt. He was a lovely character. His death got me the first time. This time, it was what it did to the other seven of your beloved characters. Why must you put them through this kind of torment? I understand; I don't comprehend.

But this doesn't make me upset at you. Oh, no. I respect your talent as a teller of stories to make me upset for days at a fictional character - a peculiar arrangement of light on a screen - dying suddenly and horribly. In a way, I'm happy the others survive; more than two and I'd get all whimsical in the brainpan.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to wash soup out of hair?

It's, however, lovely to see some explosive growth in the fandom. I like some of the things I've heard from people who know absolutely nothing about the 'Verse that you've made up. One slightly older couple, leaving today, said that they thought they wouldn't see another movie that good for ages.

Now, make the DVD come out. Please? I hear that they're expecting the DVDs to sell excellent well, and I gorram well plan on doing my part.

Consider all this to be the final part of the IOU for my soul.

Lastly, I started on a new book today - Furies of Calderon, by jimbutcher. 20 chapters in, it's fun and interesting and all kinds of lovely - much like his Dresden Files series. His style helps, too; there's certain authors - Nix, Gaiman and Prathcett also spring to mind - whose shopping lists I could happily read. They'd certainly have more plot than Jordan and more fact than Brown.

And that's about it for the moment.

...do all those pronouns come with an English-language version? :)
