PC: "Floppy disk singed my hard drive."
Me: "I'll get a new one."
PC: "Thanks."

That's right! I blew up a hard drive with a bronze-age floppy drive. In true geeky manner, I responded to this by buying a bigger, faster drive and using that to fix the silly, silly machine.

And, obviously, it works now. yay!

For the moment, that's all. Things are working again, and I have a useful selection of software available to me once again.

There was one other thing. New contact details, since I've forgotten all my old passwords. So, if you want to IM me, then:

Hurray for new, faster drives :D

I always use the same passwords. That way I know if it's not one, it's a different one. There're six that I use at work that I can pick from now but it's so easy to remember.

You can't say "bigger, faster drive" without telling us how big or how fast. That's just teasing :).

It is. It's only 120GB, because my other requirement was 'cheap'. It suited that one perfectly. And it's bigger than 80, so what I said is true.

Impressive! Truly a geeky way to kill your computer.

Has this misfortune caused a serious setback in any of your plans, such as RPG or the Sekrit Projekt?

the RPG is, so far, all on the Intarwebs and on paper. The Sekrit Projekt was set back by the need to reinstall a codec or two, but will be on its merry way as soon as possible.

Woohoo!

Codecs?

*gets an inkling of what the project might now involve...*

Oh? I guess you'll just have to wait to see if you're right.

This entry did now show up on my friends list. I feel somewhat cheated.

But... I kinda knew this stuff anyways. I didn't know how it happened though. Stupid floppy discs.
