To break the mood, this post isn't about xmas (or any other generally or specifically recognised occasion on which religious or secular traditions may or may not be observed).
It's about slightly more eclectic things. Like program code and roleplaying and excuses to use the word 'taffer' without sounding like a complete loon and a plea for a gaming group.
You see, I happen to be rather enamoured of a game system called Fate, which is a clean, simple, beautiful and tasty implementation of Fudge, built on a strong ideal of telling a story and tweaking mechanics to fit that. I'm also a somewhat active member of the Fate mailing list. Fun, no?
I was considering writing an OpenRPG plugin to handle character generation, in-play stuff and character advancement, although that would need some serious testing. For testing, you need a group of testers... and, to test a roleplaying tool, they'd need to be playing a game.
Using Fate. I ♥ Fate, in case I was a bit too subtle about it earlier.
If anyone wants to suggest (or volunteer to help form) a Fate-enabled gaming group, then I'd like to hear about it. Pretty much any kind of game would work, from cyberpunk to steampunk to high fantasy to espionage to pirates. Yarrr.
