No, I don't mean Ron Glass in drag. That would be Very Odd Indeed.

So, yesterday: Finished Neverwhere and read most of Mister Monday. Today saw Grim Tuesday done by lunchtime, and I've managed to slow myself down enough that I'm only halfway through Drowned Wednesday.

I shall call them the Days of the Reluctant Heroes, both of whom would've been quite comfortable to sit it all out with a lovely cup of tea.

Here are my very short non-spoilery commentaries at the moment:

Neverwhere: Inventive, imaginative, dark and amusing. I rather liked it, but that name - Mayhew - seems just a little too hint-like in hindsight.

Keys to the Kingdom: Lovely, inventive, beautifully written, and wonderfully brilliant. A refreshing twist on the ordinary and on conventions of genre, especially the way that Garth plays on seven-item lists.

*laughs!*

That's not quite what I had in mind, but is dangerously good for a laugh.

Neverwhere was all kinds of fun (you should watch the BBC miniseries for a laugh... the Beast of London looks like a slightly mangy plush cow) and of course Keys to the Kingdom are a wonderfully skewed delight.

Hunter and the Beast made me giggle.

I don't get it. :\

It's a curious little detail, and possibly entirely accidental. May, as in expression of possibility, and hew, as in cut or chop. I'm not sure how accidental it could be, because when he first slips out of London Above, Jessica calls him Richard Maybury.

Or maybe I just have too much time on my hands. :)

I think I'll have to *cough* hunt down a copy.

Keys... is a brilliant, brilliant series. I want Sir Thursday through to Lord Sunday right. this. instant. And I want to try your experiment, with Gaiman and Nix locked in a room together to write a novel and a blog.

Oooo... Gaiman put one of his short stories up on his site for our delight. So I figured here was an appropriate place to spam the link.

Oooh... shiny. Inventive and a half, he is.

And if you're going to spam links like that, I don't care where you do it.

After I spammed it here, I decided to spam it to my own LJ, which rendered this rather redundant.

But duly noted.
