This poll is probably most of interest to paper and dice roleplayers, but everyone should play. I'm curious to see just how many dice it's (a)typical for people to own.

Feel free to link or repost this poll in your own journals (by pasting "<lj-poll-1356329>" into an entry where you'd like it to appear), as more data makes the results betterer.

That's... a lot of dice you have there.

It sounds like more than it is; they only take up about a litre of space. :)

Ah jeez, I'd have to go get them out and count them. Rough estimate.

I am not exaggerating. My dicebag weighs more than an infant. I could probably kill someone with it, just by hitting them.

I've only got 114 (plus three Satan! dice, and 24d6 for playing Sixis) within reach. Plus my d4 necklace which is *just* out of reach.

Dice are one of the greatest things in the entire world.

I actually have no idea. I used to collect dice (...for no particular reason; I'm weird like that), but I haven't seen them in yeeears and don't know where they even are now. Probably a box.

I do have a set of WoD dice sitting on my bookshelf, though.

My original poll options were going to go up to 1000+, so I'm not surprised. :D

They are! And I've got more on order because I decided I wanted particular themed sets for different games (even ones I don't like, hello designated D&D dice), which is partly the reason for the poll.

Dice collecting is less weird than you think. I hope.

That's only including my dice, not my boyfriend's.

Okay okay okay.

I have 502 in the other room. Plus eight in my jewelry box (my hematite ones). Plus another thee Satan! dice, and two munchkin dice.

502 + 8 + 3 + 2 = 515
114 + 3 + 24 + 1 = 142
515 + 142 = 657

Hm. Less than I thought. Maybe I'll have to get obsessed with this again. <3

Maybe. Do you have any Fudge dice? They're useful to have.</enabler>

Also, I was just about to link you to the answer-changing page thingy, but you knew where it was. So I won't. Link, that is.

Our household lost a job right as I was really getting into collecting dice.

It appeals to the magpie in me. :)

A bunch of d10s for use in Munchkin and a couple of nifty-shaped d6s for my Monopoly (millennium version, ooooh) game.

Oh, and a d6 that [livejournal.com profile] alison_sky gave me with different facial expressions on the sides supposedly for use in writing to figure out character emotions or something, I forget.

I have at least one set of Warhammer die somewhere, plus a few randoms. I may have two Warhammer sets, or I may have less than one, depending on how mixed up they got when I moved out of my old room mate's house a little over a year ago. Yah, that's how often I check them...

My dice are packed somewhere, so I guessed about the 21-36. I do know I have a set of 7 Call of Cthulhu dice sitting on my desk here. I used to have many more, but they migrated during many moves.

I would have about 80, but mine went missing in one of innumerable moves, and now I just share my girlfriend's. But her dice roll well!

12 poly sets, at least 3 bricks of d6s, and beyond that it's just pounds and pounds of dice. Melee weapons of dice. I'm not sure how many. Someday if I get really bored I'll count them.

I stopped seriously collecting dice shortly after I left college. Even so, in my junior year I lost a quart of dice in a move (my entire collection at the time) and I still have about 200 now. I still occasionally lose individual dice.

I have a rule about my collection: Except for d6s, no duplicates. Over time, this made it more and more difficult to keep collecting, as I wasn't sure if I had a particular pattern. This also means that WoD sets are right out (and I have turned them down when offered). A "complete poly set" for me in a pattern is ideally 9 dice: d4, 3d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d10*10 (a d10 numbered 10, 20, etc). It doesn't bother me to have only 1d6 in a pattern, but no more than 1 die of any other side in a pattern.

In addition to "standard" dice, I have a miniature (about 1/3rd standard size) poly set, an oversized 3x d20, a d34 (apparently used in the Finnish Lottery, or something like that), a hematite poly set, a pewter poly set, two 2d6 (hollow transparent d6 with a mini d6 inside), and other assorted oddities.

I need to get more dice.

Somehow I knew you'd have many d6s. That somehow may or may not involve Shadowrun.

Interesting!

My rules are different: the dice must be pretty, and they must come in sets suitable for a particular game or setting. I may or may not have spent half an hour on the Chessex website selecting a particular pattern for my Serenity RPG dice. (I did.)

The exception to this is Fudge dice, but that's because their inherent coolness makes them prettier than you'd expect for single-coloured opaque dice.

i haven't played since i was in college, and my dice are packed away right now, so my memory may be a little fuzzy...

4 normal poly sets (they were bought together as a set, all the same pattern etc)
enough random polys to make about 3 more sets
a mini poly set
a set of weird 'crystal' shaped polys
enough D10 and D10*10s to kill a vampire... uh, i mean run a WW game where all the players keep forgetting their dice
and the same with D6s (not counting the at least 2 D6 in each poly set)

...which now reminds me that I never got around to figuring out that translation.

Also, Runner's Companion has a priority system for SR4. My sole complaint with it is that it's not in the SR4 book.
