I've been meaning to write new userinfo for... um... time x lots. The thing is, I want to have userinfo that's fun, and exciting, and interesting. Most of all, I need a bit of direction to write my userinfo because a thingy saying "write up to 65,535 characters about you!" isn't exactly rife with inspiration. It's the blankest of blank pages, coupled with a bit of an investment in the topic. It's like an invitation to write "hey. I'm me. I know all about me. You don't. Ha!" and then wonder why the whole world doesn't instantly friend you. There's space for about 13-14000 words, less if it's a bit HTML-intensive. There's space to post the whole set of Scientology answers and still write a decent essay or novella at the end. There's space, in short, to do pretty much anything at all.

This is where you come in. I'd like to enlist the help of my friends and stalkers in the writing of the elusive userinfo. And how would I ask you to do that? That is very, very simple. I'm considering collecting a set of challenges for my userinfo. These can be virtually anything at all, and I'll put in as many of them as possible. The challenges can be anything - words, ideas, a target length, something that has to be included, or anything else you can dream up. It's up to me which ones get done. I will, however, try to get through as many as is human(e)ly possible.

The comments aren't screened. Talk to each other, come up with fun stuff!

I want to do something with my userinfo, too. It is sucky.

I want you to include the word flibbertigibbit.

That is all.

Hmm... interesting.

Does that have to be all?

That's all I can think of at the moment.

What other types of challenges do you want again?

Ooh! Haiku!

Haiku's good, too. Thanks!

If you randomly think of anything else, just say so.

A sonnet's a step beyond my talents. I tried, once. I ended up burning the paper, and using *that* to melt the pen.

Flibbertigibbet can be one line of a haiku!

I had no idea what to write for my userinfo, so I geeked in it instead.

I'm after the kind of userinfo that makes people stop and think - even if they're just thinking about how they've just wasted precious minutes reading screenfuls of cunningly disguised nonsense.

I want you to write 49 words exactly about you from birth to age three.

I think you like the number seven. Also, I might just do that.

Seven's a nifty number.

I would find it sublime if you were to take the time to make extensive use of internal rhyme.

Maybe not throughout the entire thing, though.

Doing that's a step away from sounding like a Shakespeare play.

And it sounds like fun.

I cast another vote for that.

As a fairly silent stalker :P I'd like to suggest the logical inclusion of the word cheesecake into every second paragraph.

That's just plain silly...

which is to say, consider it done. :)

Well. Considering that everytime I come here (which seems to be turning into a daily occurrence) that "river river book" icon turns my head into steaming farina, I'd suggest copious Llama Song references.

I do now, thanks to Wikipedia.

That's... that's scary. I guess I could try, though.

Is that anything like Welcome to the Jungle?

No, it's more nerdy than that.

Is this extremely nerdy in a 'stop upsetting the normal people' sense of the word?

Date: 2005-07-09 09:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] theshadowlurker.livejournal.com
Yeah. It's also extremely nerdy in a 'stop upsetting the only slightly nerdy people' sense of the word.

Oh dear.

Do you have a link?

No.

The link was confiscated for upsetting normal/slightly nerdy people.

Yeah.

And they're an upsetting one, too, if you're a normal/only slightly nerdy person.

I'm late, but I make a suggestion of including words that you have made up that sound like real words. Most people will look right over them, assuming that you're intellectually superior and they're just slow because they don't know the definition of "Fandular."

Date: 2005-07-09 05:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] active-apathy.livejournal.com
Every time I see that icon, minutes of my life go missing as I watch it. Whee!

That sounds interesting... but can you use 'fandular' in a sentence?

"That thing was so fandular, I wanted to punch it in the face."
