In a previous post, there's been a couple of requests from people for me to write some electiony stuff about the US election (which, for those who haven't been paying attention, is a little vote that's supposed to be happening on Melbourne Cup Day this year in a teensy tiny tin-pot democracy a little south of Canada).

This would, I imagine, follow a style kind of like my previous election coverage, though different in a way that fits the complexities of a much larger country using a far simpler voting system requiring a vastly more complicated range of supposedly-simpler voting apparatus to fill out much more complicated ballots that then use a simpler method to tally votes for a more complicated range of plebiscites and public offices.

(I promise that if this happens, it'll be less confusing than that previous paragraph.)

And then, as luck would have it, I now have copies of pretty much all of Freakazoid! - the title sequence of which gives me two possible icons to use if I do embark on this whole election-post caper, and - by extension - another Important Decision about which I absolutely must seek the opinions of LiveJournal.

So, what I need now is a poll. A poll that looks kind of like this:

[Poll #1125497]

I has no clue who the little blue guy is, but I like him. But, y'know, asking me if I want more politics posts is like asking a bunny if it wants more sex.

So take my vote as a slightly biased sample. *goes to google Freakazoid*

Objection! I don't want to be the exception
To get a bit of your attention...

Forreals, though. I am very pleased about this. Pls to be covering US elections.

I was thinking more Phoenix Wright, but still. Hee.

And it certainly looks like it's going to happen. Time to learn a new electoral system, methinks. :D

And all because of me. I'm such a little trouble-maker. :)

There is no better icon to represent our elections than the chaos and disorder that is The Freak.

That's pretty much exactly what I thought. :)

I am torn.

On the one hand- you're funny and insightful and even if you getthings wrong it'll be enjoyable to read.

On the other.... I get enough US politics from the locals, I like reading about Aussie and British, um... and someone else is from somewhere but they don't post much so I forget where and this sentence sucks so I'll end it with the subject of the last part I think which is politics. So I might treat you slightly like the Daily Show. I'm not sure if that is a compliment.

It's not going to be every post, so there'll still mostly be the usual blend of memes and nonsense. And, if I do get things wrong, it'll either be (a) deliberately, for effect, or (b) because my research is broken.

And, neither am I. How do you treat the Daily Show? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Can I make up a third question for this paragraph?

(...did you really just send me a Dresden Dolls MP3? *dies laughing*)

Oh, well alright then. I treat TDS like interesting fluff with occasional insight and eye candy. Not badly, but not terribly seriously either.

Yes I did... but if you'll pardon the laziness, I had made that up originally for another friend of mine who hadn't heard them. I didn't make the connection there- it's been two weeks since I made it up!

Then you're with the 49.2% of people who think I don't need to be taken seriously. Which, really, is fine by me: it's easier to bounce off the walls when everyone knows to give you some space for it.

(And, if it helps, there's an election here in October this year, too, for a seventeen-seat legislature. Hideously boring, all told, but it may be possible to squeeze some amusement from it.)

And, shiny. It's a good pick for showing them off to new people. :)

No, no I haven't. Should I?

Hooray! I'll download them and listen to them later, once I've got the ones with links that'll expire.
