But first, if you like NetHack, you absolutely must try What Fools These Mortals.

All I really have today is that there was a passenger on a bus this afternoon who looked rather like Inigo Montoya.

Well, that, and I have this idea for an odd-ish sort of a vampire vignette that I should look into writing at some point, and I have lists of request things that I should really get done sometime, and I have my own ideas for other things to do, and seriously do not even think the word 'report' or 'essay' or I will beat you to death with a green pencil.

So don't. Please?

In other news, tonight I artificially aged a tiger photo from the Internargles, partly as a demonstration of film grain and faux sepia toning and such, and partly to see if I could. The original is a stock photo from here, and I'm kind of happy with the results, which look a little like this:

Happily, it's a vastly easier process this way than it is to try to make such a photo look modern.

Ooh, nice aging effects! Did you add dirt/scratches yourself, or was it a filter?

And I won't mention the r-word or the e-word, as long as you don't, either. *hides from the, er, you-knows*

I do not mention the you-know-whats.

The scratch was hand-drawn with my tablet, and the dust/dirt comes from using standard filters in non-standard ways. You:
  1. Make a new layer, and fill it with 50% grey
  2. Add noise (10%, Gaussian, monochrome)
  3. Gaussian blur the layer (about 3px)
  4. Apply unsharp mask (500%, radius 2, threshold 0)
  5. Use threshold on it (and just play with the slider until you're happy), then
  6. Add a layer mask and use that to airbrush excess dust out until you're happy.

Also! Did I mention that I used your... um, glögg? Gløgg? I know it's some kind of modified 'o'. Still! Recipe. Used, was good. Very good. :D

Neat dust/dirt creation method :).

And I'm glad you enjoyed the glögg! I haven't had the chance to make it in a while (latest recipe-testing is for masala chai), but now I really want some...

I, um, got it from a book. :D

As am I! Even the smell of it is a happy, happy place, and it satisfied even well-experienced mulled wine/Glühwein/glögg enthusiasts.
