Wow. Emo kids. I don't think I've ever seen as many as I did earlier today, sadly draped over public art installations. And it made me wonder: is there a collective noun for a group of emo kids? Are they a herd? An aggregation? A conglomeration? A symposium? An anthology? A recital? A melancholy? An...

Actually, wait. I like the sound of 'a melancholy of emo kids'.


In other news: I'm kind of tempted to find a "TRAP!" screencap from Serenity and make a "THIS IS SERENITYYYYYYY!" icon. As in, it's completely going to happen in a few minutes. Exciting!


And that's pretty much the tone of this post - a miscellany of stuff from my day. Well, my morning at least. Mostly chronologically.

• Woke up. Breakfasted, showered, dressed. May have undressed between breakfasting and showering. Paused to listen to radio.
  
  Apparently, research says that 25% of Australians have a ZOMGWTFLMNOP ADDIKSHUN to KAFFEINZ. They were more on the subject of KOFFEEZ, but I stand by my analysis of the subject. And while that on its own is little more than fact, it's kind of odd to hear otherwise sane, sensible people getting all "ZOMG! FYVE KUPSES! UR POOR HART, LET ME SHOW U IT!"
  
  *sigh*

• Actually, wait. There was something earlier. While showering, I happened to take a moment to read the writing on the collection of various bottles, and I was astounded by how many they seem to want to have the power of speech.
  
  "I do xyz_thing!" they declare, as only plastic bottles plastered with advertising copy can. "I make your hair shiny!" "I clean and moisturise!" "I can also be used as bubble bath!" "I'm in ur hairz, replasin' teh moisturez!" - it really never ends. I wonder if they want me to engage in some kind of dialogue with their products.
  

  Shampoo: Yes, this is a fertile scalp, and we will thrive. We will cleanse all this scalp, and we will call it... This Scalp.
  Me: I think we should call it your watery grave!
  Shampoo: Curse your sudden but inevitable rinsing!
  Me: Ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh. Now dilute!

  ...probably not.
  
  
• Then, fooded and showered and dressed, I departed from my abode. About ten or so metres down the street, I noticed, in the back of a parked care, a hat with "NSFW" embroidered upon it. I'm curious as to whether it applies to the hat, the wearer, something under the hat, or if maybe it could expand to mean something completely different.
  
  
• And then, fooded, showered, dressed and amused, I happened to look at the screen on my MP3 player, which said:
  
  Let's Dance
  David Bowie
  Let's Dance
  ...which, when read as a statement, kind of amused me, like only a vaguely-menacing dance invitation can.
  
  
• And then the bus came, so I napped on it and I woke up actually awake though likely no more sane.

And that's about it for this entry. Next cometh autopost, set to (you have been warned) nonsensical.

...if only it were possible to tell the difference.

Autopost is disappointing. Two attempts led to two horridly feeble results. Possibly I have fewer entries than it's made for; still, rar. The automatic haiku generator has been known to come up with more text.

Autopost was also very crap for me, innerbrat and a few others that did it. I think it's an offshoot of the search project or something, but I don't think your lack of entries explains it that much, you've got a lot more public than many.

OTOH, one of mine was three pages long, so it's not always short posts. The first was just one paragraph.

There's a search project? If that's what's come of it thus far, I think I'm quite happy with LJseek and/or Google.

...and now I wonder if it might perhaps be interesting to compare autopost with, say, running a search through Google and compiling the result snippets.

deflatermouse was hired specifically-he's a friend of friend, not met him yet, but yes, they're working on it.

Note, me thinking it's related is pure guesswork, but it'd make sense. And it's going to be able to search your private and f-locked entries for you, and respect privacy when others search your journal.

So, if he can get it to work, it'll be better than the existing options—I currently sync LJ archive then search the XML files, which is a bit of a daft way to do things.
