Google ad: "You Can Sleep Less!"

Perhaps, but I probably shouldn't.

There's a moderately-irritating radio ad that they're playing at the moment for a series of 'save the planet' extras in The Daily Terrorgraph. Apart from the most obvious thought - that the Terrograph is mostly a Liberal Party apologist newspaper, and how much space could it possibly take to tell people how to believe that global warming doesn't exist? - the ad is a mashup of previous Daily Terrorgraph radio ads and covers not driving, changing light globes, turning off appliances, and recycling. So, now that I've gotten over the constant changing of voices, all I can think of when I hear it now is that they've completely left out canvas bags.

Also, weather: Plz to gives my wintarz back, kthx?

Actually, they're not that bad. (Didn't get yesterday's, though.) It's a bit pro-nuclear, but they do, at least, refer to previous nuclear atrocities as, well, atrocities. They're actually - shockingly - being relatively balanced!

They aren't actually denying climate change. I'm surprised!

That is surprising, but in a happy, good way.

Fun fact: to build a nuclear power plant - just one - would cost about $25,000 for every Australian who has (or is actively looking for) a job. $25,000 each. That, if nothing else, should settle any nuclear argument right. there.

...Oh dear o.O And in re-read, it is actually a fair bit more balanced - they're talking about how what is being produced now (medical stuff) isn't nearly as potent as using nuclear power for, well, power, and that the waste products are the single biggest deterrant. Plus, it mentions the concerns about nuclear weapons and that it does actually create emissions (although less so than oil or coal).

It's interesting, but it's... balanced!

The medical products are important and necessary, so the "NUKLEARZ IZ ALL EEBIL!" set should probably think that one over, but still, nuclear power = bad.

Especially with an environment like this, that effectively says "Hello. I am your geography. My alternate power sources, let me show you them."

but still... balance? Telegraph? I'm amazed.

Rain. *wistful* Remember rain? I remember rain. Rain was good. I have no winter, and I have no rain, and I'm quite disappointed about it all.

Well, yeah, the medical stuff is a neccesary evil and doesn't have a huge output anyway. So one reactor, dedicated only to medical? Fine, although I'd prefer one that isn't smack bang in the middle of suburbia. But running the country on the Libs' two dozen planned reactors? NOT COOL!!

"Hello. I am your geography. My alternate power sources, let me show you them."

...Ow.

In all fairness, the reactor was there first. The suburbs were built around it later, which is a kind of idiocy that takes real talent - doubly so to then complain about the fact that they've built next to a nuclear reactor. The new reactor was built in the same place so that they could use the same infrastructure to manage the fuel, waste, and products.

Yeah, fair enough, I guess. Maybe they should just whack the next one out in the bush? If it goes kablammo (that's a technical term), we can have radioactive sheep!
