As part of a fiendish plot to share my newfound Within Temptation addiction (prompted by a comment conversation (and why isn't there a neologism for that?!) with [livejournal.com profile] maggiebloome (who may (or may not) approve of these (ridiculously!) nested parentheses) in a post somewhere), I earlier embarked on a short quest to find Within Temptation content on the Webbernets, which turned up two clips on YouTube, being:

Ice Queen, and

Memories

So! The question here is this: do any of you have links to more stuff?

I have mp3s for Somewhere, Our Farewell, Mother Earth, and Angels, if you were to want any of those. Hypothetically, of course.

Of course. I have... all of those. Others may be interested in hosting your offsite backups, though.

Well, if someone were to have an interest in any of them, they could perhaps find them at the following locations:

Angels
Mother Earth
Our Farewell
Somewhere

And if they did, some might suggest they'd be well advised to start with Angels.

I've always used mathematical parentheses when I have to have nested parentheses. It makes it easier for me to see what's going on.

Phwoar, so much punctuation... I'm impressed, when I reach that level I tend to get confused and leave some close-brackets off, or put in too many.

I cheat. Programming and HTML coding have taught me that when you're doing something complicated, you should write the opening punctuation, then the closing punctuation, then insert the content after. :)

He was indeed - his entire love life was hilarious, especially his little man-crush on Alec.

...and now I have to bust out my DVDs :)

Ahh, Within Temptation. Or, as I've called them, "The Bastard Stepchild of Evanescence and Nightwish".

You're so behind the times. I was listening to them so last year.

How much of it do you want?
I could pull down all their albums off of BitTorrent by tomorrow night, and then upload them for you.

The list of albums, to be complete, is
The Silent Force
Mother Earth
Mother Earth Tour
The Dance EP
Enter
Running Up That Hill
Live Tillburg

Do note this is a total of 80 files and 570 megabytes.

If you'd just prefer individual songs, do let me know which ones you'd like.
The torrent (with the list of tracks) is availiable here.

It's interesting that they can be a bastard stepchild of a band that didn't exist until two years after them. Instead, I'm going to go with Evanescence being a watered-down genespliced US clone of Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation. (Which is mostly fine by me, because I don't mind the ingredients, and it's slightly better than with instrument-free pop groups. And while they're creeping into the discussion, what the hell's up with the guitar wank version of My Immortal? I've been pondering that for three years now, and still. no. answer.)

And last year was only two weeks ago.

Plus, as outlined before, this post came from introducing [livejournal.com profile] maggiebloome to their musicstuffs.

I like to pretend that there is no version of My Immortal with guitar wankery. It makes me feel better.

I also prefer their earlier, pre-Fallen stuff, which is much more melodic and less with the trying to sound like every other nu-metal* band out there.

*I hate writing that word. How hard is it to spell new correctly?

I secretly just try to hear the original piano coda. It helps.

And... yes. Just yes. There's already other bands for when I feel like listening to things that sound like other bands.

I haven't listened to the new album yet (I was given it as a birthday present recently, but I haven't actually got around to playing it yet). I'm holding out a slim hope that there might be some of the older-type stuff on there.

Not that I dislike the new stuff, but it just gets a bit samey after a while.

Picky picky picky. I use that term because I discovered Within Temptation after the other two, so yeah.

Anyhow, I have it all downloaded now. Any actual requests for uploads?

And you are right about the 2 weeks ago thing. My date sense has never been the strongest. By "so last year" I meant "so 2005" :p

Nay; I have a plentitude of music, and a shortage of bandwidth. Thanks kindly for the offer, though.

I knew of the short bandwidth, hence selectiveness musically.

Regardless, you have but to ask now, or in the future, and I shall happily aid thee in the acquisition of any music (or other assorted data) you may so desire.
