The recipe I got from the Webbernet is 16:1 glucose/red dye, with a tiny bit of blue to darken it and a list of options as long as your leg.
What I made this morning worked out as 2 teaspoons of syrup, half a teaspoon of red dye, a couple of drops of blue and about 50-60mL of water.
For larger quantities, that's 20:4:1 water/syrup/red. It's kinda sticky, runs well, pools nicely, and I even got a bit of CSI-style spatter on my ceiling. There'll be a picture in a moment, and the water pistol still works.
