[Edit] Dear entire rest of universe: All of these are stealable (with normal LJ icon-stealing conditions), unless noted otherwise. [/Edit]
This is partly for me, because I want somewhere to keep a semi-organised showcase of icons I'm reasonably fond of. Some appear in multiple categories, but that's because that's where they go and your browser's still only going to load them once. So:

I think September Marvin stands out pretty easily. :)

Børk børk børk.

Once again, the original icon for Lumberjack!Vader was by
ebilsoki.

I tried to make a Nethack icon. I'll probably have another go at it sometime; we'll see.
Random Use Of An Odd Ad From A

A note on spelling: that was from the metacomment. I know how to spell potus, but that wouldn't have been quite as fun.

So I got a bit Shakespearean about it. Happens. All the other entries were jokes.

Wait for the animation on the first one. It's (deliberately) easy to miss. 00100100 is Bender's apartment number, and ASCII for $.

The flashy effect on the first one was a complete accident, but turned out to be a likeable one. Like post-it notes, really.

The middle one is made using the cheapest font ever. No, seriously. It was written by hand, twice, then liquefied. The chocolate one was made in 5 minutes.

'Tis the Golden Record, from Voyager 1 and/or 2, with the text from... um... some famous person who I remembered the name of a few weeks ago.

See the Scientology expression? Be thankful he's a Jedi Knight. According to the last census, I am too. The bad pun in the other icon is made worse by the fact that menfolk traditionally aren't my thing, especially not the ones in uniform.

Let's say I was inspired by the head being missing from the picture, and the mods not having found a decent stegosaurus with a head.

This one was sneaky. She qualifies for all of them, strictly according to the definitions used for that contest. It was mildly tricky to get it to loop, and the green ticks are slightly edited radical signs.

Unfortunately, Sepia!Jayne didn't qualify as being strictly black and white, which makes for a mildly upsetting rule. The B&W Jayne icon should probably have been adjusted with a very small bit of blue, which oddly looks more like B&W than pure greyscale.

I like using Very Odd interpretations. It makes things fun. And the spelling on the dress icon: The shooting scripts say so.

This one was very fun to make, but somewhat tricky. This is the Contest Version, and is my second-most complex animated icon yet.

Yes, I really do handwrite icons before typing them. What? It's not that strange.

And so ends the icons. For now, at least. Not all of them are there, but these things happen.

Date: 2005-08-01 07:04 am (UTC)Turns out there's some not focused, some of the walls, some of out-of-focus walls, one in-focus shot of my eye, and someone forgot to turn sepia mode back off. Namely, me.

Date: 2005-08-01 07:20 am (UTC)Well, that and I want a digital camera that can use the lenses from my film SLR, which means I'm currently looking at about 1800AUD of camera, less if I can buy one without the starter lens kit. And even then, that's pretty useless for quick, fun self-portrait photos, but lovely for all other digital photography. And I don't like taking photos of myself, so all is well.
The other one I've got my eye on is a 30AUD one that's smaller than credit card sized (but somewhat thicker), and probably has a pretty pathetic picture quality. Still, it'd be a lot more portable.

Date: 2005-08-01 07:24 am (UTC)The 1800AUD camera sounds like it'd be a wonderful thing to have. You should buy this one also.

Date: 2005-08-01 07:28 am (UTC)Like getting a photo of the shop window for, of all things, the "Woden Christian Bookshop". Spot the amusement value in that one.
The $1800 camera would sit neatly in the other pocket of my camera bag. That'd neatly make two camera bodies, two fantastically versatile lenses, a small assortment of lens filters (which reminds me, I must get another circular-polarising one), and miscellaneous extras.

Date: 2005-08-01 07:43 am (UTC)Oh you must take a picture of your Christian Woody's.
I saw a sign yesterday that read "Your Mother". I believe it was a restaurant. I had to giggle at it though.

Date: 2005-11-04 12:55 pm (UTC)I do have one little question: The font on the Firefox icons...it's the one from Firefly, no? If so, where did you find it/would you be willing to share? I've been looking for that font for years.
Re: stumbled in randomly via seeing one of your icons on my friends list...
Date: 2005-11-05 11:35 pm (UTC)That particular font's called Nuptial BT (it's easiest to just google it), but it's not the exact font. It's been edited with a little bit of brush work in Photoshop.
