Let's start with a little pearl of wisdom overheard on a bus, shall we?

"I usually just try drinking some Coke. Either it'll make you throw up, or you'll start to feel better." -Random passenger

Yes, this has been ripped horridly out of context, but let's imagine the silliest possible extent of this philosophy.
"Um... hi. I can't come in to work today; I had some bad sushi last night."
"What? You'll be fine. I usually just drink some Coke."
"Um... ok, i suppose. Hey! That's much better!"

Silly? Some. But not silly enough.

"When we got there, the patients were cyanotic and not responsive."
"We tried pulmonary stabilisers and cardiac infusers."
"We applied the Can of Coke, but were unable to get a response from either patient."

Fandom, +5. Silly? Not so much. Hmm... where have I seen this basic idea before?

"Well, that's good enough for me. Start him on 600mL of Coke."
"Wait... we need to do more tests! How are we supposed to know if he'll throw up or get better?"
"We don't. Start him on the Coke, and take a bucket."

Maybe, but it's a situation where a supply of Coke isn't terribly silly. Let's fix that.

"Sarge! They... they got me. I can't... can't feel my legs. It's getting cold, Sarge, real cold."
"Stay with me, private! We'll get you sorted out. Here, quick! Drink this."
"Sarge... thanks. I feel much better now."

I think that'll probably do nicely for the moment.

In other news, possibly interesting to some of you, I recognised yet another CD played by sales staff in a shop! But there's more story to this one.

It seems that someone goes out of their way to play music whenever I'm shopping. There was this electrical place that was playing Blind Guardian, for example. Or the stationery shop playing host to a Fiona Apple CD. One shop, an EB Games, had Chess playing.

Curiously, this is never CD shops. Of the seven of them I've been to over the past three days, I've heard one of two songs. One is Sarah Blasko's cover of Don't Dream It's Over, or My Humps. The former I don't mind, though I do prefer the original. The latter is rather irksome, especially when it's on infinite repeat. Grr.

So, today. Today, I happened to be browsing through a shop full of idle curiosities. And, yay! Nightwish! Then some Nightwish, then a bit more Nightwish... then Little Drummer Boy, which - as such changes go - was jarring, unfortunate and irksome.

But! Speaking of CD shops...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It finally arrived! My copy of The Big Damn Soundtrack! And it looks Very Much like my Serenisquee icon, too. And the music is squeeful! And I read the booklet, and the bit that Joss wrote for it, and smiled. And then I thought it'd be fun to imagine it being read by Nathan. And it was, so I laughed and smiled. And everyone else on the bus thought I'd probably kill and eat their children or something.

But SQUEE! :)
