Most of you here, I've met by way of [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes. It's a collective of laughter, a collective of squees; occasionally, it's a collective that stops for a moment to comment on something that's Just Not Right, or a collective that pauses to think about and ponder on something touching and deep. It's one of those places where you're pretty much sure that, whatever's wrong with the world, it'll be good for a laugh and a smile and making everything feel better for a bit.

Tonight, [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes is a collective mourning the loss of its creator and moderator, [livejournal.com profile] kielle, also known as [livejournal.com profile] _redpanda_.

Like so many other LJers, I only knew her tangentially. There were occasional comment threads, and she got probably more of my icon love than anyone else. She seemed, to me, a fun and lively person; one who gave every indication of a life lived well, and one whose projects and spirit of fun have touched countless other lives.
And now, toward my Little Black Book Of Entry Notes.

It's a little a6 affair; the kind of thing that you can tuck into a bag or a coat pocket, with the kind of spiral binding that neatly holds a pen. The front cover is nondescript black plastic, the back cover is slightly beaten cardboard, and the pages are a nice, heavy, crisp paper that's lovely to write on.

(Hello. Function, is it? Please, please, take a seat. I just need to finish going over a few things with Form. I'll try not to keep you waiting for too long.)

All this is important, because the biggest note on the page says, in big messy handwriting, "Serenity RPG! Squee!", with more exclamation marks, more 'e's, and some underlining. Just in case it's not blindingly obvious, my copy of the Serenity RPG came in today (though, to be fair, it was in a box with a few other copies). I've had a brief flip through it so far, and I find myself rather liking what I see - especially the way there's a table in to just make up words for when techy stuff breaks.

Below that, there's another note. This one is scribbled in worse handwriting, possibly a result of violent gigglefits. This one says, "seeing film?"; I managed to kill myself laughing when the poor sod collecting my money, when he asked if I plan to see Serenity.

The next item says "[livejournal.com profile] apathy_games - poll". I really do draw the little comm thingy in my notepad, and the little lj-person for LJers. Thts was supposed to tell me to write the poll tonight, but it's going to have to wait until tomorrow. At the very least, it'll give me a chance to flip through my newfound shiny and properly decide if I want to make it a poll question or not.

The last note says "Guards! Guards!". I bought it for free on Wednesday (yay loyalty programmes!) and finished it tonight, after the end of Spooks and before journeying into the Intarnets. [livejournal.com profile] fireyfox, I pretty much entirely agree with your opinion of it; while the silliness is all still there, I prefer the, wossname, humour to that of the earlier books. It has the feel of settling into a style that just completely works.

The other half of the page is just crisp, white paper, waiting for another set of entry notes; the scribble in the other half has been neatly struck through, a sign that it's been posted and that new reminders and details can squeeze themselves on for their turn to become another slice of Internet.
I've finally come up with bits of text for all those writing thingies from that meme here. In case you missed yours, or are desperate for reading material, they are:

[livejournal.com profile] sarekofvulcan: Firefly - Good dogs
[livejournal.com profile] lesslikeyou: A vague disclaimer
[livejournal.com profile] theshadowlurker: Random quotation marks
[livejournal.com profile] princesslaurene: Old Kingdom - Iconoclastic
[livejournal.com profile] deepfishy: Old Kingdom - Bell, book and candle
[livejournal.com profile] mrpyro: Firefly - Weddings

If you want your very own, just comment (in the meme entry). If you want another one, then comment (in the meme entry). If you want to tell me what you think of any of it, good or bad, then comment (here or there).

That is all. (For the moment, at least. (Yay parentheses.))
