...which I'll probably get when I can buy all six books as a pretty-looking set. This leaves me immune to spoilers, since I won't have a damn clue what any of them mean and I'll forget they ever existed by the time I have the books in my hands. No spoilers are to be posted in comments to any of my entries, though, to play nice with everyone else. 'k?
Now, other news. I have headaches literally all the time. I kid you not - all day, every day, my head just kinda hurts. Some days it's worse than others. Most days, it's perfectly ignorable. Other days, it hurts. On rare occasions, it makes its presence felt. This isn't a new phenomenon - it all started back when I was in year 8, and has been there all the time since. I've seen 3 nice, friendly and brilliantly intelligent GPs, and none of them have had the faintest clue. One guessed it might've been something foody; she gave me this list of things to avoid, but it did absolutely nothing too. I have a notion to try an optometrist, despite my eyes seeming to work much better than average. The last time I went to one, though, not a thing was wrong - and my head hurt then, too.
lesslikeyou,
liadlaith and (I think)
daphyn, this has nothing to do with the other thing I mentioned.
Today has been fun. To quote Wash, 太空所有的星球塞盡我的屁股. For the last thirteen hours, my head has decided that it hatessssesssss me. It hasn't just hurt all day. It's been hurting like some kind of strip-mining operation has hired a particularly zealous cerebral arsonist to fill my head with napalm and toss in the whole damn box of matches, before opening up with an assortment of mattocks, hammers and cricket bats. This, by the way, is putting things mildly. My head hurts enough that it's been able to make me cry at seemingly random intervals throughout the day, and this literally never happens except this time. And right at this very moment.
[[As a note to my flist, I'm basically never dramatic about things unless it's in fun. Read back a little, and you'll have proof. I'm scarily good at pretending everything's perfectly fine; I think most folk who read my entries and comments from late March up until now-ish should be able to see that pretty well.]]
So, I tried the usual suspects. First stop, water. I dehydrate like a damp sponge in an oven, even in Winter, so I spent a nice, long time just drinking water. No dice, since it didn't want to stay for long.
Next attempt, a bit of a nap. Not a chance; between cure #1 and my head hurting, sleep was Right Out. It feels like it will be for hours yet, too.
No ibuprofen here, and I didn't want to burn my eyes to a fiery death with the glare of full sunlight off a partly-cloudy sky. As it is, I had the curtains drawn all day, and even now I'm using my little blue lamp to see by. It's from IKEA and has the cutest little feet, like Vic Viper's missiles in Gradius.
Fourth try, paracetemol. Two capsules, more water, and no gorramn effect. By this stage, things are painful and upsetting.
Fifth try, a bit later, paracetemol and caffeine since each makes the other work a little faster and better. Again, no appreciable result. I managed a little bit of a nap, which only made matters worse.
Last culprit, tension. The third and final of those GPs suggested that as a posible cause, though I certainly haven't a clue what I'd be tense over. Cue watching Doctor Who with the lights very low. No effect. Next try, World Championship Poker or such. Again, no effect.
This is door number three: Actively relaxing things. Writing an entry, making
icons_at_random entries, and listening to music loud enough to set off Happy!Chemicals and distract me. It doesn't seem to be having much effect yet, but honestly, something will be better than nothing. Results later, since I mean to make another icon for myself, too.
More news soon-ish.
