Aargh!

So, I followed a metaquotes source link out of idle curiosity, which led to the most eyebleedingly hideous patch of Internet I've seen in Quite Some Time. And now, following that overwhelming and objectionable orgy of venomous visual violence, I'm just hoping to be able to see the other colours on my monitor properly.

In short, retina-burning colour schemes suck. Please, please don't use them. Ever.

This is why I stick to Black with grey bits. You can't go wrong with greyshades as long as the contrast is right. I have no sense of colour balance, so it's easier.

You'll know it if you see it; I'm not knowingly sending anyone to look for it. Suffice to say there's lots of very bright pure blue with white text.

See, I thought I'd found it, it was horrible. Then I switched to the next tab, and had to gouge my eyes out.

Ouch, why do we torture ourselves this way?

I have no idea. It's that other people apparently choose to go and comment that confuses and mystifies me.

Well, I can sort of understand the commenting, because if you use that style=mine thingie, then it bypasses the horrible eyeburniness until you actually post the comment. So if you click 'close' fast enough, you could possibly never see the layout at all.

I still can't get beyond setting one's own page like that, however. Because then you're looking at those colors for long stretches of time.

And you just can't use colours that bright and still read text. Eyes do not work that way. While there's some contrast, it's drowned in a sea of 'AARRGH MY EYES MY EYES!' which makes it patently unreadable.
