Let's look at the most important thing to have come out of today: an introduction to ye merrie olde International Standard Bibliographic Description, which we're told underpins absolutely everything else that we'll ever learn about library thingies.

This means that for the rest of the subject my course my natural life, the following has to be the most clear and sensible thing ever:

Title proper [general material designation] = Parallel title : other title information / first statement of responsibility ; each subsequent statement of responsibility. – Edition statement / first statement of responsibility relating to the edition. – Material specific details. – First place of publication ; second place of publication : publisher, date. – Extent of item : illustration ; dimensions + accompanying material. – (Title proper of series / statement of responsibility relating to series, ISSN of series ; numbering within the series)

Which it pretty much is already. All I need is to remember the punctuation properly, and all will be good. Shiny, even.

I particularly like the phrase 'statement of responsibility'. It's almost like they're being blamed for something. (And hello to Anne, wherever she is. Do you allow 'hello's, Anne? Or should I consider my own original greetings for my own original people?)
